North Otago R.S.P.C.A. Paw's club
Junior Paws Club
We are very proud of our Junior Paw's club, the member's dedicate their free time to run the r.s.p.c.a. centre on saturday of each week, they also spend much of the year fundraising, selling raffles, running BBQ's and generally out and about in the community. The children are a valuable part of the structure within the North Otago R.S.P.C.A. not only in the help they give at the centre but also in the message of animal awareness that they spread through their peer's and parents in the wider community, and with that in mind a lot of time at the centre is spent learning about animal care, how to identify illness, feeding, hygiene procedures and dealing with the public. At present we have 11 members between the age's of 9 and 15 years, and 1 adult volunteer.
In 2008 we have several outings planned, there will be a trip to a goat farm, a dairy farm and a trip to Dunedin R.S.P.C.A. to learn about the oldest shelter in the country (125 years) and how it is run, we have also been invited to view a surgical procedure at a local vet clinic, so it's all very exciting.

If you have a love of animals and would like to be involved at your R.S.P.C.A. centre learning the importance of animal care and having fun while you do it then just drop in to the centre at 29 stuart st Oamaru, Saturday between 9am and 1pm or phone for more information on (03)434-8196.
We look forward to seeing you there.
